College of Engineering established its first Dean’s Advisory Council

The College of Engineering establishes its first Dean’s Advisory Council (DAC) fulfilling a part of its vision for the future.  DAC members bring diverse expertise and perspective as they serve as ambassadors for the College and offer counsel as the College continues to grow and strengthen its programs.

On Friday, October 29th, Dean Ahmed Khattab will welcome DAC members to the campus for the first official meeting of the newly formed Dean’s Advisory Council.

“I would like to welcome all the members to the DAC. One of my first priorities as the new Dean for the College was to establish a dean’s advisory council,” said Dean Khattab.  “I could not be more pleased with the diverse group of alumni and friends of the College that have agreed to serve as the first official Dean’s Advisory Council,” continued Khattab.

The DAC is diversely comprised of c-level executives, presidents, and founders as well as state government executives and elected officials who are, or have been, actively involved in organizations that shape the marketplace and who are dedicated to excellence in engineering education, research, innovation, and workforce development. Members serve a period of three years and can be reappointed.

As part of the council's objectives, DAC members will share their expertise and offer guidance and advocacy to the College.  Members will advise the Dean in key initiatives that will propel the College as a provider of a unique and rigorous engineering education. These selected members are committed to the College’s pursuit of excellence that emphasizes leadership, business, entrepreneurship and innovation skills within the engineering and technology curriculum that meets the needs for future engineering and technology professions.

On Friday, October 29th, during their day-long campus visit to the university, DAC members will also tour engineering facilities, and many will attend homecoming activities over the weekend.

“I am so excited about the future possibilities for the College,” said Khattab, “DAC members are my strategic partners, together we are in pursuit of excellence for the College,” continued Khattab.
