Industry Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Engineering & Technology Expo?

It is our biggest recruiting event for potential engineering and engineering technology students. Many students come to the Expo to understand engineering and the differences in the various fields of engineering and technology. Teachers and parents use the Expo as a learning experience for their students and themselves.

What is industry needed for?

Industry makes up a crucial one-third of the actual Expo. We need industry volunteers for:

    Industry exhibit booths
Sponsors to help us keep this awesome event free for everyone
    Judges for contests
Inspiration for future engineering and technologists

How do industry participants & volunteers benefit from the Expo?

Networking with future engineers and other companies
A chance to meet the College of Engineering's faculty and staff
Find out what our UL students are learning
    Build relationships with current students
Recruit future employees in a relaxed atmosphere
To inspire the youth of America to become problem solvers of the future
    Community service

What does it cost to set up an industry booth?

There is no fee to participate.

What consists of an industry booth?

The Expo is similar to a career fair or trade show in a casual setting. The students would like to see something inspiring and exciting. You can offer advice, provide an interactive station, show a video, play a game, display equipment, or anything else that you think will get their attention.

How do I prepare for the Expo?

Tents, tables, and chairs are available on request on a first come first serve basis. We will try to provide as many power cords as possible, but encourage you to bring your own if possible. If you need power, bring a minimum of one 10 ft. power cord. We will also provide water for industry volunteers, but may run out before the event is over. It is recommended for you to also bring water as you will be there for approximately 6 hours. If you would like to find out more about the actual Expo you can read about it here.

May I bring promotional material?

Yes! Plan accordingly. You will see anywhere between 1,500 - 2,500 students and volunteers between 7:30 AM and 1:30 PM, however, you are not expected to bring mass amounts of giveaways. If you are limited, you can always ask the students to perform a task or play a game to earn a prize. If you would like to get a better understanding of what the students will experience, visit our Engineering & Technology Expo page.

Will parking be provided?

Yes. All registered participants will have access to complimentary on-campus parking provide that they follow the guidelines. Participants will receive specific instructions and a map approximately one week before the event. You can find more information on parking here
