Steve is a native of Lafayette, LA. Throughout his career, he held numerous technical and management positions, first at Marathon Oil Company where Steve spent 33 years of his career working in both domestic and international assignments culminating with his position as Vice-President for Worldwide Business Development. At Marathon, he served as Vice President for its United States production operations and later as President of Marathon Oil - Libya. He also led the company's central Africa business unit, overseeing project expansions in Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and Angola. While leading Marathon Oil’s Africa business, Steve founded the “Corporate Alliance on Malaria in Africa” a joint corporate coalition focused on the eradication of malaria on the continent. He subsequently joined VAALCO Energy in 2013 as Chief Executive Officer and later Chairman of the Board. Steve was active in many professional and societal ventures including serving on the Board of Directors for the Corporate Council on Africa, board member for the Independent Petroleum Association of America and the American Petroleum Institute as a member of the Upstream Committee. Steve retired in 2016.
