B.S. in Petroleum Engineering with:

Smart Oilfield Concentration

The Smart Oilfield Concentration offers new and advanced theories, practices, and educational experiences on machine learning, internet of things, coding, statistics, computational applications, and data modeling. The concentration integrates petroleum engineering (PETE) expertise of the sub-surface with data analytics, and machine learning for more cost-efficient oil exploration, production, and management. PETE future graduates enrolled in the Smart Oilfield Concentration will be capable of contributing to a more sustainable, safe, and environmentally friendly oil production. Our graduates will continue to develop the main raw materials for energy and chemicals and at the same time, using smart tools, provide alternatives for carbon capture and reduction of emissions from oil cradle to grave. We expect job opportunities for our PETE graduates in new areas, such as supply chain logistics, systems integration, and automation.

We are envisioning today's oil field as a system of sensors, networks, and integrated operations continuously generating and communicating data that can be used to reduce cost, minimize accidents, protect the environment, and reduce time of future oil exploration and production. We will prepare our students to implement and operate a smart oilfield.  The concentration combines courses in coding, statistics, machine learning, and specialized software to provide special training in automation, predictive capabilities, safety, environmental sustainability, and economic feasibility of oil and gas exploration operations.
