The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s College of Engineering is pleased to announce a unique industry partnership with LEMOINE and JB Mouton in support of its Construction Management concentration. The new offering provides an innovative combination of a B.S. in Engineering & Technology Management with a Construction Management concentration coupled with an embedded minor in business. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to preparing students for leadership roles in one of Louisiana’s fastest-growing industries.

At the center of this collaboration is the development of the Construction Management Innovation (CMI) Hub—a forward-thinking, Engineering Center of Excellence initiative that brings together technology, and industry insight to transform how students learn and how companies engage with the next generation of construction professionals. The support of LEMOINE and JB Mouton will help bring this vision to life and ensure it remains grounded in real-world industry practice.

“We developed this concentration with a clear purpose: to respond directly to the needs of Louisiana’s construction industry,” said Dr. Ahmed Khattab, Dean of the College of Engineering. “This partnership with two major construction companies bridges the gap between education and industry, creating a direct pathway from the classroom to the jobsite. We’re building a program where students are equipped to lead with confidence and purpose from day one," continued Khattab.

The CMI Hub will feature dynamic, hands-on learning spaces designed to immerse students in real-world construction environments. These high-tech labs will simulate the challenges and workflows of today’s job sites, giving students a competitive edge.
Students will also have opportunities to gain industry-recognized credentials, connect with career resources, and engage with a council of industry leaders, including JB Mouton and LEMOINE, helping to shape the future of the program.

“This is about preparing future professionals, not just graduates,” said Stuart Billeaud, President of JB Mouton. “We see this as an investment in our industry and our region—training students in a way that’s relevant, applied, and deeply connected to the real work we do every day,” continued Billeaud.

At the core of the CMI Hub is a groundbreaking structured engineering apprenticeship pathway that blends classroom learning with real-world experience. Participating students will take part in a multi-year opportunity that integrates directly into their studies, offering mentorship and hands-on exposure to the field throughout their academic journey.

“This partnership is exactly what our industry needs,” said Ben Simms, Vice President at LEMOINE. “It brings together a forward-looking academic program, real-world learning through the Structured Engineering Apprenticeship Pathway, and the kind of collaboration that prepares students to thrive on today’s job sites,” continued Simms.

The Construction Management Innovation Hub will welcome its first cohort in Fall 2025.
