The Spring 2025 meeting of the Dean’s Advisory Council (DAC) brought together industry leaders, faculty and members of the Dean's Student Advisory Council to discuss the future of engineering education in an AI-driven world. Under the theme “Reimagining Engineering Education: Designing What’s Next for the Next Generation of AI-Ready Engineers,” the agenda focused on aligning academic innovation with emerging workforce needs.

Hosted at the Alumni Center, DAC Chair Georges Antoun opened the meeting with remarks on the importance of forward-thinking leadership. Dean Ahmed Khattab followed with an update on the College’s current momentum and bold vision for “what’s next” in the college.

Highlights included deep-dive discussions on the integration of AI across the curriculum, the ethical use of tools like ChatGPT EDU for academia, and how to preserve critical engineering thinking in an augmented learning environment. Faculty member Ahmed Temani and DSAC student representatives Ariana Foley, Simone Duhon and Kennedy Malley contributed valuable perspectives on proposed curriculum innovations driven by AI, including a peer-led AI tutoring initiative through the Engineering Center of Excellence and the importance of integrating AI tools into student projects.

To build on this momentum, a subcommittee was formed under the leadership of DAC member Scott Hoffpauir. The subcommittee will gather insights into best practices by interviewing faculty already using AI in their courses and will compile recommendations that support a thoughtful, scalable approach to AI integration across the College.
