The College of Engineering would like to congratulate Dr. Shawn Wilson, Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Transportation (LaDOTD) and member of the First Engineering Dean's Advisory Council, on his appointment as the first African-American President of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) for 2021-2022. 

"I am so very proud of Dr. Wilson, and I know he will represent Louisiana very well.  His long history of accomplishments make him an excellent choice for AASHTO president," said Dean Ahmed Khattab.  "He has exciting plans and partnerships envisioned for the future and I know the outcomes will be extraordinary.  I am proud to be one of those partnerships."  added Dean Khattab.  

Dr. Wilson has spent a decade serving in various leadership positions at LaDOTD before being appointed as Transportation Secretary in January 2016. He joined the AASHTO Board in 2016. Dr. Wilson is an alumnus of UL Lafayette.
