Max Merrick

Max Merrick is a 1965 graduate in Civil Engineering from University of Southwestern Louisiana, now UL Lafayette. He began his career with a fledgling oilfield location company that quickly expanded into airport, highway and heavy construction. Reinforced concrete dam and spillway construction later became a key aspect of his company portfolio, culminating with several major USACE post-hurricane Katrina projects in New Orleans.

Max was active in both national and state politics, being the legislative committee chairman for the Louisiana Associated General Contractors (AGC). In 1985, Max became the last state president of the Louisiana AGC Council, Max was instrumental in combining the branches of the Building Contractors and the Highway & Heavy Contractors. He became an honorary lifetime member of the Louisiana AGC.

In 1995, Max opened the first waste tire processing facility in Louisiana, turning waste tires into tire derived fuel and playground material. In 1998, the company cleaned up the largest waste tire pile in the world, located in Atlanta, TX. Being a proficient twin-engine pilot (an amateur aerobatic pilot), Max has many hobbies, including cutting horses, race horses, bicycling, motorcycling, marathoning, skiing, golfing and scuba diving.
