Francis Broussard Memorial Endowed Scholarship for Future Engineers

Francis Wayne Broussard (1951 - 2004)

Francis Broussard was born, raised and educated in the Acadiana area. One of the first graduates of Comeaux High School, Francis graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (USL) in 1974. Francis spent his entire career in Louisiana, working for Sun Oil Company, Pennzoil Oil Company, and OCS. His expertise in the Offshore Gulf of Mexico lay in the areas of reservoir and production engineering/management.

Francis was an officer in both the SPE and LAGCOE, as well as an active member of his church.  He was intensely loyal to his alma mater, supporting the university in both words and action. Those who knew him remember Francis as an intelligent and respected member of the oil and gas industry as well as a good, friendly, and caring person who always went out of his way to help Petroleum Engineering students and the university.

Eligibility Requirements

  1. Must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
  2. Awarded to the President and Vice President of the UL Lafayette Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) student chapter
