Acadiana Flow Measurement Endowed Scholarship

The Acadiana Flow Measurement Society (AFMS) was started in 1965 by a group of pipeline and production personnel with help from the University of Southwestern Louisiana, now known as University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The society was chartered to advance the study of measurement. The original focus of the group was gas measurement; however, the society has since expanded to include liquid and NGL measurement.  AFMS is a non-profit organization, with all proceeds used to operate the society, provide measurement training, and provide scholarship opportunities to college students interested in fields associated with measurement. We are in our 34th year of producing a measurement short course and exposition each spring. Our society offers several scholarship opportunities.  To honor our historical affiliation with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, we contribute to a scholarship fund established for the College of Engineering, Engineering Technology. This scholarship is presented to a UL Lafayette student each semester.  In addition, children of AFMS members are eligible to compete in an essay competition for a cash prize to be put towards college expenses. We hope to encourage these students to investigate and possibly choose oil and gas measurement as a career opportunity.
