College of Engineering's First Seminar in its Distinguished Lecture Series
Wed, 10/23/2024 - 4:49pmThe College held its first seminar in its distinguished lecture series. We were honored to have Dr. Magdy Bayoumi as our inaugural speaker presenting his fascinating talk: “Be Careful, I Can Read Your Mind.”
Dr. Bayoumi captivated the audience with his groundbreaking research using brain waves and deep machine learning to predict seizures earlier than ever before. His engaging presentation delved into the future possibilities of this technology, hinting at a world where we might one day be able to read minds.
Dr. Bayoumi serves as the Department Head of Electrical & Computer Engineering at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is an IEEE Fellow. With a distinguished career spanning decades, he has authored numerous research papers and books and received multiple prestigious awards. His contributions to the field of computer engineering in research and education are recognized globally.
The event was attended by faculty, staff, graduate students, President Savoie, and more.
