The College of Engineering, in collaboration with the Office of Development, organized a delightful evening of "Cocktails and Conversation" in Houston, featuring Dean Ahmed Khattab and his vision for the College. Held at Maggiano’s Little Italy on Thursday evening, this event witnessed a remarkable turnout, spanning across generations of alumni, from recent 2023 graduates to those who proudly received their diplomas in the 1970’s. It was a memorable evening where Houston area engineering alumni came together to celebrate their shared connection to the College of Engineering.

Dean Khattab reflected on the evening’s success: "It was an exhilarating night where I had the privilege of connecting with a diverse group of exceptional engineering alumni, sharing my vision for our beloved college, highlighting the upcoming collaborative building, the Engineering Center of Excellence (ECoE), and introducing our exciting proposal for a state-of-the-art makerspace."

The event also featured special guests, Mr. Steve Guidry, retired CEO of VAALCO Energy who extended a warm welcome and Mr. Peter Bernard, Executive Chair for Datagration Solutions, Inc. Both distinguished alumni and members of the Dean's Advisory Council.

In closing Mr. Bernard shared some wonderful remarks about the college.  "It’s been an honor to serve on Dean Khattab’s Advisory Council. As an alum of the college, I’m excited for its future under Ahmed’s leadership. As shared in the presentation, the educational experience that the College of Engineering provides for its students will have a significant impact on their paths to be better students and well-prepared engineers in the workplace."

He encouraged all attending to stay engaged and to help spread the word about all the exciting work being accomplished in the College of Engineering.

A huge thank you to all the engineering alumni who came out to meet Dean Khattab.
