Brig. Gen. Patrice A. Melancon, PE, FSAME

Hailing from Slidell, La., Brigadier General Patrice Melançon was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps Program at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (USL) in 1988, and graduated with honors. Patrice spent nine years on active duty prior to entering the Air Force Reserve in 1997. She has been a commander twice, has experience at base-level, major command, combatant command, field operating agency, and air staff levels and has been activated for three extended active duty tours since Sept. 11, 2001. She has served stateside, as well as in Europe and Southwest Asia, and has experience in both peacetime and wartime contingency operations.

In her civilian career, Patrice served as a senior project manager and engineer with CDM Smith for 15 years, overseeing projects for various federal clients and programs including the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and Environmental Security Technology Certification Program. She has experience in delivering water, wastewater, and storm water projects for municipal clients as well as federal entities. Patrice currently serves as manager for the Watershed Engineering Department for the San Antonio River Authority where she leads a team of 30 personnel to protect and enhance the creeks and rivers of the San Antonio River Basin. In military service, Brig. Gen. Melançon was recently selected to return to active duty and lead a team to rebuild Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida following the Oct. 2018 devastation of Hurricane Michael.
