Bach Williams

B.S. Chemical Engineering – 1982
M.S. Engineering - Chemical – 1984

Process Director – Fluor

Originally from Saigon, Vietnam, Bach escaped on a fishing boat to Paris after the Fall of Saigon in 1976. She joined her parents in New Orleans in 1978 and attended the University of New Orleans where she majored in pre-med. She then transferred to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (USL) in 1980 and changed her major to chemical engineering.

Upon graduation, Bach accepted a position with Dow Chemical in Plaquemine, La. as a process engineer where she received several technical awards for improving processes in Chlor-alkali, Polyethylene Technology. During her 12-year tenure at Dow, Bach helped successfully replace all gas turbine drivers to steam turbine drivers in the Ethylene Plant, generating the highest return on investment in the company’s history to date.

In 1996, Bach joined Fluor, an engineering and construction company, as a process engineer. As process lead, she executed chemical base projects ranging from $500 million to $2 billion. Bach was part of a team that drastically improved the company’s efficiencies by developing a database called “Knowledge-On-Line” that collects technical knowledge and shares it globally within Fluor.

Bach’s greatest accomplishment is mentoring junior engineers, helping them become good process engineers and evolve as process leads. For 10 years, Bach served as team manager for her daughter's soccer team and in her “spare” time also enjoys gardening, growing vegetables and flowers, and cooking for relaxation.
