As a mechanical engineering student, you are assigned to an adviser when you enter the program, either as freshmen or transfer student. Advisers are identified for each student in your Ulink account. Advising for the coming semester(s) takes place during two weeks every semester designated as advising weeks. The dates of the advising weeks can be found in the University’s academic calendar every semester.
You are also encouraged to consult your advisers before dropping courses. Dropping a course that is a pre-requisite for another course in the curriculum may set back your graduation date by a semester or more.
If you have any questions regarding pre-requisite changes, course offerings, and courses taken elsewhere - after you have entered the UL Mechanical Engineering program - they can be addressed to individual advisers or the department head at any time.
Never assume that a course taken elsewhere and shown in their list of transfer credits will automatically apply towards your Mechanical Engineering degree. It is important to keep in mind that any course taken at UL where you earn less than a passing grade can be replaced with a course taken elsewhere.
Any questions regarding the adviser assigned to a student should be directed to the Administrative Assistant in the Mechanical Engineering Department Office, 248 Rougeou Hall.
