What is the Expo?

Registration Is Required and Admission Is Free!

The UL College of Engineering and the UL Student Chapter of the Louisiana Engineering Society, LES, would like to invite you to our annual Engineering and Technology Expo Day on Wednesday, March 8, 2017! The Expo takes place in, and around, Madison and Rougeou Halls at 131 Rex St., Lafayette, LA 70503. This E&T Expo is an opportunity for interested students to tour UL’s College of Engineering and get a “close up” look at what UL has to offer in the fields of engineering and technology. This is the most comprehensive tour that the college has to offer.

As you are led on a tour through our labs and classrooms you are able to see all of the equipment and research projects that our students work with every day. Not only are you able to interact with current students and faculty, but also the many companies that hire engineers who will be on campus showcasing their businesses. The E&T Expo will give you an idea of what engineers do and what types of careers are available to today’s engineering graduate. The LES students and the College of Engineering are planning a fun and exciting day, as we strive to help students discover the importance of engineering and technology in today’s society and consider the many career possibilities available to them.

This invitation is primarily for high school students, especially those interested in math and science, although all students are welcome. Teachers, principals, parents, and counselors are also welcome as this is a great opportunity for a field trip.

E&T Expo Day begins at 8:30 am and concludes at 12:30 pm. You may arrive at any time during this period. When you arrive someone should sign in at the Registration tent in front of Madison Hall (131 Rex Street, Lafayette, LA 70503) where information about exhibits and self-guided tours will be available. Everyone will be given a bag of information, promotional material, and a discount coupon for the UL Red Zone and UL Bookstore if you should chose to stop by.

Guided tours for groups are available on request on a first come first serve basis. E&T Expo Day student volunteers —recognizable by their hard hats— will be spread throughout the event. Please refer all questions to our student volunteers who are happy to help you. Representatives from Career Services, the Scholarship Office, Admissions, and other UL departments will also be on hand to provide information to students.

Interested students will be able to participate in E&T student game competitions. Please note that the Egg Drop and Balsa Wood Bridge contests require that students build a device before E&T Expo Day and bring it with them, which will need to be impounded before the event.

All attendees are encouraged to bring their own lunch; however, there are plenty of lunch options on and around campus. The Louisiana Engineering Society will provide a snack for all visitors (hot dogs). Because only a few water fountains are available, everyone is encouraged to bring a drink.

Please encourage your faculty and students to attend Engineering & Technology Expo Day on Wednesday, March 8, 2017. To facilitate event planning, we ask that interested teachers and/or counselors register as soon as possible by completing the appropriate Event Registration form.

If you have any questions regarding the event or would like additional information, please e-mail us at EandTexpo@louisiana.edu or contact the College of Engineering at (337) 482-6585.
